Boys & Girls Club receives Green Gift

STEVENS POINT - Boys & Girls Club of Portage County has been selected as a 2016 Cellcom Green Gift recipient. The nonprofit received a $1300 Green Gift from Cellcom to support its Kid Power electronics recycling program.

Kid Power educates about the negative effects of throwing electronics in the garbage and the benefits of recycling. The program will invite members to bring in unwanted electronics from their homes to be recycled. Participants will keep a record of all the items collected, research how and where they can be recycled in our community, and make at least one field trip to a recycling collection site to observe what it looks like and learn what happens to the items next...
