It Seems to Me: CAFOs damaging


In a CAFO, also known as a concentrated animal feeding operation, or factory farm, thousands or tens of thousands of animals are confined in buildings where they often do not get the fresh air or pasture that their bodies need to thrive. CAFOs are a disaster to the environment, including the life within environment.

Cranberry Creek Dairy in the Dunn County town of Rock Creek wants to expand from 1,000-plus cattle to a potential 7,250 cattle. There is much opposition to this expansion due to environmental and health concerns.

It is a known fact that the Earth and its inhabitants cannot survive without clean water. CAFOs produce massive amounts of toxic waste that have been known to leak into adjacent waterways and ground water, not near the CAFO itself, but wherever this toxic waste is dumped. This leads to high nitrate levels in water, which we have already seen in our neighbor’s water....

Ken Notes: Yep, but we may need to regulate rather that just say no because the politics is not on our side here. Tomorrow will not change this. CAFO`s have money to spend and we may be able to get them to spend it on digestion and removing pathogens or they will spend it getting politicians elected who will let the do what the want...
