Recently, a friend asked what it’s like working on environmental issues.
My response: It’s often like pushing a heavy rock up a steep hill.
Trying to achieve policies to protect our outdoors in our current
political system, sodden as it is with special interest cash and
influence, can be frustrating. Thus, it’s all the more important to
recall and celebrate those times that our natural heritage has been
