Wisconsin should lead on climate change


It was distressing to see Wisconsin's attorney general using this page to tout a lawsuit against the Environmental Protection Agency, which will at best waste taxpayer dollars to defend polluter profits and at worst continue Wisconsin's trend of falling behind in building a clean energy economy.

On top of Attorney General Brad Schimel's lawsuit, we also saw Gov. Scott Walker's support for big polluters and for continuing to allow them to release unlimited amounts of dangerous carbon pollution into our air used as a pillar of his presidential campaign. Unfortunately, even with the governor out of the race for president, Walker's Washington allies, such as Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), are still firmly in the corner of the corporate polluters who fill their campaign coffers, perpetuating these dangerous policies that put Wisconsinites' health at risk....

Ken Notes: The key is to include business, agriculture, power producers, and others. When we choose to fight rather than negotiate we tend to come up short. We have to look at the legislative landscape and work with what we have now rather than hope for change that may not come...
