Stuart, Landin: PSC has heard the wake-up call

The Public Service Commission’s recent snapshot of our state’s energy situation serves as yet another wake-up call. It is a warning for Wisconsin that it when it comes to energy, we’ve lost our economic lead.

We need to focus on getting it back....

The PSC’s Strategic Energy Assessment is blunt: Wisconsin homeowners and businesses who once paid among the lowest rates for electricity in the country now pay the highest rates in the Midwest.

It’s not even close.

Our members, Wisconsin’s largest manufacturing companies, now pay an average of 22% more for electricity than their competitors in Illinois and 13% more than the average rates paid by manufacturers in all other Midwest states....

   ...more

Ken Notes: I am confused and want to point out that many of the very power lines that are making eastern energy cheaper run right through the state. We need to work directly with the power companies and get the politics out of the mix because it is not working.
