Gas could go below $2 a gallon again this year


Gas prices below $2 were nice while they lasted — and they’ll likely return.

Petroleum analyst Gregg Laskoski of GasBuddy.com said Monday that Wisconsin residents and people nationwide could, later this year, see the kind of low prices they saw in February.

The average Wisconsin price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline dipped to $1.50 in mid-February, according to the website, and the price in Minnesota fell to $1.44 a gallon. Gas prices rose steadily into March and have stayed above $2 ever since. Wisconsin as of Tuesday averaged $2.24 a gallon, with La Crosse at about $2.19...
