Financial penalties for violations of Wisconsin environmental laws fell sharply in 2015 to their lowest level in at least a decade. Data released by a conservation organization show forfeitures paid by individuals and companies for violating state law totaled $306,834 last year. Still when I talk to business leaders they want to work together for a better environment, they want to find real long term solutions, they want a DNR and EPA (not to mention environmental advocacy groups) that also understands the financial side of business. If we fail to work together now a legislative swing will return us to policy that forces business to leave the state.
