Madison Water Utility finds PFAS in all city wells


MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison Water Utility says annual testing has found chemicals known as PFAS in all of the city`s drinking wells, although it maintains the levels fall below the state`s proposed safe drinking water limit.

Total amounts ranged from 2.5 to 47 parts-per-trillion.

PFAS, or Per and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances, are used in everything from food packaging to upholstery, clothing and firefighting foam. The chemicals do not break down in the environment and are commonly found in dust, air, soil and water....

Ken Notes: I will mention one more time that it will become problematic for Wisconsin to get too far ahead of federal policy on this issue. We may find a problem without a solution and my guess is that people right now are saying any PFAS is too much.
