Wisconsin has been a leader in environmental protection. This includes key roles in forming national organizations such as the Wilderness Society and Sierra Club, and creating Earth Day in 1970. We
should be proud of our heritage and respect the foresight of our past
environmental leaders. The conversation went from developing exploitable
resources to cherishing them for their aesthetic, moral and spiritual
properties. Aldo Leopold inspired many to appreciate wildlife and use our land sensibly. Leopold helped formulate policies of land management not just for commercial uses but also for the benefit of humans, plants and animals. We are losing the benefits that Leopold worked so hard to give to Wisconsin...
